Ajay Devgan is one of those fine actors who have portrayed tough heroes, dark baddies and brilliant comedy roles, all with aplomb. His entry into Bollywood with Phool Aur Kante (1991) was spiced with dramatic stunts, and in the two decades that followed, he has brought to life many iconic roles. Today on his birthday, we look at his screen fashion in five of his most popular movies.
Singham (2011) –This super cop movie with Ajay as Bajirao Singham became a blockbuster at box-office. While Ajay mostly appears in police khaki dress, his stern look in the film is substantiated with basic colours in formals and few bold sweatshirts and denims.
Golmaal 3 (2010) –Though a multi-starrer, Ajay Devgan as Gopal stands out with his macho look. The fun theme of the movie allows for bright colours, casual and easy going lifestyle wear and Ajay wears an assortment of full and half-sleeve shirts and form fitting t-shirts.
Once Upon a Time in Mumbai (2010) – Devgan plays the key role of underworld don Sultan Mirza in this gangster movie, and is mostly dressed in sleek and fashionable clothing of the 1980’s, and often in white pristine suits.
Company (2002) – Ajay as Malik, plays the role of a gangster taking the reins of the Mumbai underworld by eliminating all his opponents. Ajay appears classy in dark shirts paired with blue jeans or charcoal gray trousers, classy suits, and the ensemble is often paired with gold chain and sun glasses.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) – In this musical love triangle, Ajay plays the role of Vanraj, a stoic, selfless and devoted husband; ready to let go his wife to her lover. Dressed in formal suits and pale shades, his attire is suitably confined to his serious mood in the movie.
